The School District of Oconee County is one of the first districts in SC to participate in the voluntary Lead Testing in Schools and Child Care Centers Program. This DHEC program is authorized and funded under the EPA’s Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act and provides free water lead testing to schools and child care programs across the state.
The School District of Oconee County invites families with students entering K5-Kindergarten this fall to participate in our Jump into Kindergarten program. This program will introduce students and families to school administration, teachers, and give a glimpse into what a typical school day looks like for kindergarteners. Families are encouraged to attend one of the sessions listed below for the school their student will attend. Questions should be directed to schools.
At its regularly scheduled board meeting held on Monday, March 13, 2023, the School District of Oconee County Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Mr. Joshua Harrison as the principal of Fair-Oak Elementary School and Mr. Eddie Payne as an assistant principal at West-Oak Middle School.

The School District of Oconee County encourages all families with students eligible to attend K5 kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year to complete a pre-registration application. To be eligible for kindergarten, a child must be 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2022.
